Kristen Miller has been my coach now for 3 ½ years. We have done hundreds of workouts together!

At the start, Kristen helped me to get beyond a post-surgery rehab. In the bigger picture, Kristen has helped me to incorporate a physical fitness regimen that was never a part of my life.

My “issue” when I came to Kristen was rehab for a blocked spinal-cord nerve-root surgery that had not gone well. I was feeling very discouraged and even a bit scared that I would never recover. This was preceded by a life-long history of spinal column diseases and 7 interventional surgeries over 35 years.

Kristen’s rehab thinking, her theory, centered on the neuro-muscular relationship. On day one I had little strength and could not even feel my muscles in action. Kristen started with very light and very carefully monitored strength work to get the muscles activated, which would in turn stimulate nerve regeneration. It wasn’t even until the 6th month mark that I began to get out of pain and start to feel some strength returning. She was so patient and positive…much more than I was!

Kristen is a scientist of the body in motion. She programs every session for precise movement, timing, and repetition. Our “rehab” sessions eventually became work-out sessions; rigorous hikes; and more.

She is also one of the most positive and genuine people that I have ever known.Thank you, Kristen, for helping me to not only recover but to surpass my earlier physical capabilities.

Even as a child, I felt awkward and incapable when it came to any kind of sports. I don't like exercise. I prefer reading and a sedentary lifestyle to getting up and moving. Perhaps these traits were factors in the incurable condition that brought me to Kristen - adult degenerative lumbar scoliosis.

My goals: to get out of debilitating pain and avoid surgery. The Spine Center suggested that strengthening my core would help me. I know myself - I do not have the discipline to do this at home by myself. So I looked for someone to help me.

I found Kristen 7 months ago. At that time, I was afraid to move. Kristen understood my diagnosis, and she patiently worked with me. Without being a "rah rah" cheerleader, she subtly let me know that I could do what she asked. I now feel so much stronger and more positive, with a lot less pain, but even now, she does not overload me. The time with her goes fast; I don't look at the clock and wish I could leave (as I admit I've done before in other situations). She understands, without my saying so, that if she asks too much, I will lapse into my old familiar "I can't do it" mindset, and quit.

Kristin is a physiology ace. It has taken 7 months, twice a week, but I can do more now than I could before my diagnosis!! I make progress without the exercises causing pain. She works on my body alignment and posture issues that I've had all my life; I see progress there, too.

I regard Kristen as my recovery partner. I like coming to her studio, which is well equipped and always extremely clean. I feel safe; I'm no longer afraid. I can't wait to see what the future will bring.

Finally, I have to say that Kristen is so much more than an exercise coach. She has helped me choose shoes; she teaches me about nutrition; she has recommended an outstanding chiropractor. I have put my recovery in Kristen's capable hands, which means I no longer stress about my future. I have even ordered some exercise equipment for use at home!

I am grateful for Kristen's expertise and for her help and support. I have no hesitation in recommending her highly to anyone, young or old.
